Got an ipon touch 16Gb from my bank and used it once or twice.  I've been using it as a paper weight for 8 month. This is my first fraud allert. Looks like the itune is absolutely not safe. Will never buy or use any apple devices again.

My credit card company contacted me today regarding 4 charges to my account ($170 total) within the past month which I did not make. They closed the account and will be assigning analysts to investigate.

There's obviously a problem - a hacker or an inside job?

I was also startled today to see two separate charges (84.79 & 42.39) from CA (866) 712-7753. They were for Turbo Tax. I did my taxes on my iPad and paid directly through my iTunes account. My charges were legitimate.

Just got 14 exact same charges (14 x $21) on my bank account with this exact same phone number! What's up with that Apple ?

I was trying to buy Numbers from the App Center, did'nt work, denied my card, not in my purchase folder. But it's all over my bank account!!

    I have the same problem:

Does anyone know how to refund the money they charge or at least how to prevent it?

    Thanks for any help!

I'm having unauthorized charges from this number too and I can never talk to anyone to have it stopped

Yup - same thing here... charges came through as pending early AM on 26-November, 2013 ... one for $17.89 then a second one for $16.90.  I Google'd the phone number and a bunch of other threads come up from as early as 2008 from other people claiming they were also scammed by someone using the same description.  However, others have been scammed for a far greater amount.

This is a SCAM - it is NOT iTUNES!  One commonality I have noticed among all the threads I've read is that everyone who has been scammed by this "merchant" has made 1 or more actual legit iTunes purchase, so it must be someone hacking the iTunes payment system... perhaps someone at Apple can get on this???  Your customers would certainly appreciate a safer and more secure marketplace.

In the meantime, to everyone who has already been scammed, I would strongly suggest cancelling the card this transaction showed up on and have your bank issue a new card number along with dispute the charge(s) that were made to your account from that "merchant" ... the "merchant" is not real but rather, they're very successful (i.e they have been doing this for a long time without detection) with a slightly more developed scam process than the average Joe-scammer (i.e phone lines with Apple sounding operators, etc.).

Long story short - cancel your card(s) ASAP ... and HEY APPLE, do something about this, would you?

Just registering that this has just happened to me.

I needed help from Apple Support to reset my security questions. Apple support called me and helped....I go on to check my bank statement a few hours later and had a charge for $1 from today from this same phone number (866) 712-7753...?

It didn't happened to me, but my father was charged 6.98 and 2.99 on his credit card the same way as for you guys, here in Brazil. But the thing is HE DOESN'T HAVE AN APPLE ACCOUNT. Seems to me that his card was cloned elsewhere.

This happened to me a couple days ago.

I was only charged $5.30. I immediately called the bank and cancelled my debit card. I do have an Apple ID so I changed the password on that.

I had a charge on my credit card today from this same number.  Didn't remember purchasing anything from iTunes. So I checked my iTunes account and had forgotten that I bought more cloud storage. My charge was legitimate, I did make the purchase. However, now ya'll have me concerned about the future. Will watch real close.
