aquamandw, greetings;  Your dissatisfaction is duly noted.  I happen to believe that it is important to know that the only way to install OS 10.6 on a late 2011 MBP is through improper means.  Though I think that the odds are not in your favor, I hope you do find a way of doing so properly.

    Ciao.

And what is improper about install a Mac OS on a Mac computer. Please get off your high horse.

Shootist007, greetings:  What is proper is the source.  A Snow Leopard OS can be purchased as a DVD from Apple.  Apple does not sell Snow Leopard as a download as they do Lion.  A download from the Internet of Snow Leopard is improper.  It seems you may be challenging the veracity of your Feb. 5 statement.

    Ciao.

You really can't let this go can you. I would seek some help in accepting things the way there are instead of trying to change, or make, things the way you want.

Shootist007, greetings;  I am not the one who has downloaded an illegal copy of Snow Leopard from the Internet.  Any such copy on the Internet has to have been altered and there is a risk is that additions may very well have been incorporated that, for example could collect one's financial information that would allow the depletion of one's bank account.  I wish that on no one (INCLUDING YOU!!!).

I have made my position clear on this issue.

    Ciao.

THANK YOU Shootist007 and others who have provided useful information.  I was able to clone an older MacBookPro with 10.68 to a harddrive and and run the clone with my late model 2011 MacBook Pro.  After some testing of the clone on the hard drive I transfered it to my late model 2011 MacBook Pro and it is running fine!

Thanks again for all the help!

You are Welcome. I'm glad I could help, especially with this.

Now if it hadn't been for Ogelthorp hijacking the thread it would of been much shorter then 3 pages.

    Good Luck.

    PS:

Not sure if you saved the Recovery HD partition but even if you didn't and you want to go back to Lion in the future you can use the Internet Recovery system by holding down the Option+Command+r keys at startup. That will take you to the Apple online Recovery HD where you can reinstall Lion.
