Will Time Capsule recognize an ExFAT formatted USB drive?

I'm running Lion on my iMac. I plugged an ExFAT formatted drive into the USB port on my Time Capsule. I thought Lion added ExFAT support? I can see the drive when plugged directly into a USB port on the iMac but not when plugged into the TC. Do I need to do something special for it to show up on the network?

Is there any solution for this problem?

I don't wonna formate my drive!

TC is dumb as a board.. as Apple makes it.. that is how it will be. Now and forever more.. world without end, amen!!

If apple do not provide any way to read and write to a disk formatted NTFS in TC.. and plainly they would not.. it is a microsoft owned format with back engineered tools in other OS. ie no native support except in windows. Plus btw all those routers that do manage to read and write to NTFS are usually dog slow. Even on a Mac I believe it is very slow.

Don't plug it into the TC. plug it into a computer.. share with the network. A windows computer that natively reads can share it to the network. But neither format is great for Mac as NTFS is read only, without extra software.. and ExFat is still FAT.

Buy a new disk and format it HFS+.. then copy all the info to it. Then you can change the format of the original drive if you need to.
