Can I boot from time capsule

I am considering buying a time capsule versus an external hard drive to backup my family's three Macs. But, I'd like to know if I can boot one of the Macs from the time capsule network. My daughter's Mac HD died recently and the Apple technician suggested not only regular backups of her Mac, but also having an external hard drive to boot the Mac from in case the HD dies again such that I can attempt a disk repair or file recovery from the HD.

Time Capsule-OTHER, Mac OS X (10.7.3)

No, the Time Capsule is a network drive.

You must boot either from a Mac's internal drive or a drive that is directly connected to the USB or FireWire ports on the Mac. This type of drive is called an external drive.

A computer running Mac OS X Server can be used to start up other Macs over a network.

You can store a bootable partition on the timecapsule or use the usb port for additional bootable drive and boot up from network. You have to connect to the network via "Finder/Go/Connect to Server/10.0.1.1
