iCal won't sync from iPhone to Mac

Hi there

There are some similar questions here, but nothing seems to quite fit for me. iCal has stopped syncing from my iPhone to Mac, though it does the other way around, & everything else (address book, mail, apps, music) syncs both ways.

I'm using Snow Leopard v10.6.8. I'm not using iCloud or MobileMe, I'm just trying to keep it simple by syncing everything (other than apps) via a cable, & syncing directly to the Mac. I update everything regularly.

I've already tried a no. of things: re-set the Sync Services folder (using instructions here http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2481); cleaned up the calendar using Calendar cleaner, to get rid of corrupt calendar events, etc. (& there were a few, though getting rid of them didn't change anything.

Thanks - if you have any advice for me, could you make it step-by-step, please, as I'm only barely computer-literate.

Ever so grateful 😎

- Debbie

Hi MamaZebra,

I'm afraid I still use the USB connection with my iPhone, not Cloud, but anyway...

Plug your iPnone into your computer using the usb connection and open iTunes.

At the top right of the iTunes window click on the iPhone button, next to the iTunes Store button.

The next window should give you details about your iPhone, your iOS version etc. In the bar at the top, in the centre is a row of buttons - Summary, Info, Apps, Music, Films etc.

Click on Info, the second from the left. The second box down is "Sync Calendars".

Uncheck "All Calendars" then check "Selected Calendars" and then check all the the separate calendars.

This seems to kick the syncing into action.

Thank you for the thorough reply- what's baffling is that I don't have the Info tab between Summary and Apps! Its an older phone with the newset software. Egad. No matter where I dig, I can't find access to iCal via iTunes on my desktop, and I've unchecked and rechecked everywhere else I can. I guess it's the Genius Bar for me! Thank you for your help- I'm sure it would have worked!

OK, I've given up trying to fix it through apple and their calendars. I did the Itunes trick and it worked once but not sure it works anymore and if it does there is a big delay. Instead, I just created a google calendar and made that my default calendar on my iphone5 (in settings). I also associated the calendar on my computer. Google will autoupdate.

There are many with this issue I have read in various places. Received a "This computer cannot sync calendars" warning message the other day and all of my calendars went missing from the Calandar app as well. Not unchecked....missing! I cannot ADD an iCloud accoiunt to Calendars either. The oproducre works up until pressing the button ADD and then nohting.

My cCalendars are still on iCloud and on the iPhone and a third party calendar application, but what is going on and why the complication? The calendars are no longer On My Mac which I suspect is the culprit, but syncing is syncing and the location should not matter. Similarly, there are not calendars or contacts or Info tabs in iTunes. Not greyed....nothing.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

OK guys, solution for the calandar, contacts, etc. sync problem with the iso 7.0.4 iphone sofware and mavericks software.

U have to sync it with icloud. HOW?

(everyone will have an icloud account if you have an apple ID and password). if you don't, create one. in order to do that, click itunesstore tab on your itunes, then click "sign in" tab on top left corner, then create apple ID)

1. go to settings on your iphone.

2. then icloud.

3.plugin ur apple id and pass.

4.turn on the options for contacts, calandar, etc.

your calandar, contacts, etc. will get synced to your icloud. (this replaces the info tab that is missing when you plugin your iphone to sync to your mac on itunes)

If you want to have ur calandar to give ur alerts, etc. ,while working on your mac, just be signed on to icloud on your computer @ www.icloud.com while you're working on your computer.

love

cheers

I tried all of the above, and my iCal from iphone does not show up in my Mac, either of them. It is very frustrating! I think it was the upgrade from mavericks. I have tried everything, syncing, making sure its there and it is not. i lost all of my data for taxes from the calendar last year on my iMac. I had no problem in the past with pulling up the calendar and reviewing the info that was once on my iphone. Help please!

I am having this exact problem too. I just spent the morning fighting to get my iPhone to accept the Mariner's schedule from iCal on my iMac. I've tried everything I can think of, but it won't sync with my iPhone5. I've had this problem ever since I installed Mavericks on my iMac. I also see that iSync doesn't work on my iMac either. What happened to it?

AND I'm having a problem connecting my iMac to my iPhone 5 through BlueTooth. What's up with that? It says there is no connection even though I have my iPhone connected to my iMac through USB. Understanding that USB is wired and BlueTooth is wireless, that's just how close they are to each other, yet I still get the error message that they are not in range of each other.

I've also noticed that it takes 4 times as long to load my applications on my iMac as it used to. I use MacKeeper to maintain my HD, but everything I have tried to speed it up has failed.

Suggestions?
