You need to use the version on the original DVD set that came with your Mac.

As Grant Suggested, you'll need your original AHT disc that came with your computer. It's supposed to be in the "Everything Else" Box located in your computer's box. If you don't have your original disk I suggest calling AppleCare and have them ship you a replacement copy of your computer's AHT disc. There's a nominal fee charged by Apple to process this order if you are not under AppleCare's coverage.

BTW, how are you accessing the AHT? Did you get a disc from another computer? or are you using the internet version of the AHT?

    Hi,

I just want to let you know, that it worked perfectly fine when I brought my machine to Genius bar. I brought my machine for charger replacement as its two pins were stuck and they had to replace the charger. I asked Genius that machine freezes oftenly so therefore he checked it thouroughly with Diagnostic test but could not find anything.

This machine came with Snow Leopard, I upgraded it to Lion (10.7.3). Would that same DVD work in lion or do i need to get new one

    thanks,

The diagnostic is tied to the Hardware. It uses its own loader and its own primitive Operating System. What version of Mac OS X you have on a Hard drive, and even whether you have a Hard drive or not makes no difference whatsoever.

You need the discs that shipped with your Mac when it was new, because those discs are specific to your Hardware.
