reset password
on my girlfriends computer when i select the option to allow password to be reset using apple id, it unchecks it self. i dont have this problem. so plz help me help her

While trying this out, I seemed to see the same problem. I tried checking that the AppleID associated was fine, which it was. I also re-locked the preference pane, and it unselected the checkbox. I then left the Users pane and went to the print pane, then closed it. When I opened it back up, the checkbox was checked.
Try checking it and then quitting the system prefs without clicking anywhere else on the Users & Groups pane.
