What is error 0x800B0109?

I hope someone can help me. When I open my iTunes a window pops up asking me to authenticate my computer. My user id is there and when I put in my password, I get an error message. The error is "We could not complete your iTunes store request. An unknown error occurred 0x800B0109. There is an error in the iTunes store." I tried uninstalling iTunes and reinstalling iTunes, but it didn't work. Does anyone know what this error is and how to fix it?

It's been a while since your post, but I just ran into and solved this issue because I just turned Match on, so I'd like to reply in case someone else runs into this.

A bit of searching on Google for 0x800B0109 without the word "iTunes" showed a lot of people talking about problems with a root certificate missing for all sorts of scenarios that had nothing to do with iTunes.

With Microsoft Windows, root certificates are updated with Windows/Microsoft Update. On my XP machine I went to Microsoft Update, clicked "Custom" instead of "Express" to search for updates, and found "Update for Root Certificates for Windows XP [April 2012] (KB931125)".

After installing this certificate update, iTunes Match and iTunes Genius began working.

There Apple support document for iTunes actually mentions making sure your XP updates are up to date, but when I checked mine it originally said that I had 0 updates for XP available from Microsoft. Only upon doing the custom scan did I find the mentioned update.

I had this issue with Windows XP. With Microsoft Windows, root certificates are updated with Windows/Microsoft Update. On my XP machine I went to Microsoft Update, clicked "Custom" instead of "Express" to search for updates, and found "Update for Root Certificates for Windows XP [April 2012] (KB931125)".

The error went away after this update was installed. If you're using Windows 7 (maybe Vista too?) this may work for you:

http://download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/v3/static/trustedr/en/rootsu pd.exe

The goal is to get your root certificates updated. So if the link doesn't work search for how to do this with your version of Windows.
