New iPad Heat problem

There have been reports of yellow tint on the screen, hot batteries, poor battery life and poor wifi connection. I have experienced all of them, however, I'm lucky in that with a first full charge the battery life issue seems to have rebalanced itself. I have noticed a warmth to the left side of the iPad, however, I put this down to the smart cover being in contact with the iPad at this point. I'm happy with the screen and whilst warmer than my old iPad it will bed in over time I'm sure. Then only remaining issue that comes and goes is the wifi which seems less robust than my last iPad.

You have to factor in that forums will always attract problems that need solving as that is what they are largely for and therefore you'll get a skewed set of topics. You could always wait for delivery see how it is and if you have any issues that you aren't happy with then you could return it.

There are messages pertaining to the new iPad running hotter than previous models.

I haven't heard those other issues that a1000 spoke about, and I am pretty in-the-know as far as reading all about the new iPad. I also own a new iPad.

In my particular case, the iPad does seem to run a bit hot. So, I made a post here about it. Apple will see all of us (or not) posting about the heat issue. If there's substance there, Apple will simply make it right.

When I bought my new MacBook Pro, there was an issue with home sharing... Lots of people posted about it and Apple pushed out a software fix within days.

I expect Apple to make a statement about the heat issue. I expect them to say that it is normal for this iPad. Howver, if there's an issue that is more damning than I expect, I know Apple will make it right with current owners.

That's why we use Apple. You don't have to worry about getting a subpar product! They'll take care of it if there is any real issues.

If I were you I'd keep my order active and enjoy your new iPad!!

I have no heat problems with my new iPad and I've used it a lot. This is a non-issue. Those who have a true heat problem probably have a defective unit and should contact Apple support for replacement.

For what it's worth I have had no problems with batteries, yellow tint, or whatever.

You have to expect some problems to be reported since Apple has sold more than 3 million new iPads (not counting those that were preordered).

Were there any issues reported with both the iPad and iPad 2 when they both first came out? Maybe these divices should be looked at the same as one would with the first model year of a new car? Wait a while before buying one to avoid dealing with any issues. I've never been a cult weirdo over any product, itching to be one of the first to get one. Maybe it's better off to wait.

I just wanted to post regarding the heat issue:

I've had my new iPad since Friday and one of the first things I noticed was how much warmer it is than my iPad 2. Today however was the first time it went from just a minor annoyance to a problem...

I have only used my new iPad this afternoon to just do some light reading on a website. The iPad is not plugged in or charging; I have cellular option turned off (using WiFi only); and I haven't been using any apps that require heaving graphics usage. I am simply reading thru an online book or text.

After just 1 hour of reading, I realized that not only was the iPad hot, but the entire case that my iPad was in had become too hot to even have on my leg. That is when I pulled the iPad out of the case and realized it was completely burning up... even hurt my hand to touch the back of it.

I'm starting to realize that this is defintely a much bigger problem than just the new iPad being slighty more warm than the iPad 2. Even the screen itself becomes hot and uncomforatable to even touch or swipe.

I've now just turned it off and went back to using my laptop, since the new iPad is obviously unusable to me at this point - at least until there is either a fix for the problem or a replacement.

Well, if there is something to this heat issue with the new iPad, lets hope Apple gets it fixed. Itm really is a great product. I'm always using my iPad 2.

MIne gets fairly constant use during the day, and while I have noted that it does get warm on the back, it's quite minor (certainly not hot as described in the CR report). MUCH less than my work Dell at work or even the MacBookPro at home.

Okay ... another approach would be to try using it outside of whatever sort of a case you had it enclosed in.
