I would like to stream audio (not music, not itunes but rather drum beat app) from ipad to home stereo -- can I do this?

I would like to stream the audio created by a beat application (like a metronome or drum machine, or even Garageband) via WIFI to my home stereo, xbox, or PC.

Can anyone help me get this done?

Airfoil to the rescue:

To stream to your stereo, you will also need an AirPort Express with Airtunes.

Thanks, John!

Right now I have my PC audio out connected to the home stereo and use Apple's Remote app on the iPad to control the iTunes running on my PC. Works great.

Would I use "Airfoil for Mac 4.6.5" on the iPad and Airfoil Speakers for Windows running on the PC to stream all ipad/iphone audio out the PC's audio output to the home stereo?

I don't mean to start an ideological discussion, but do I understand correctly that this app is $25 (small amount for desktop software, huge for an ios app)?

It's $25 but the trial version is free. The trial version is full featured, it just superimposes annoying noise after 10 minutes of streaming. So you can experiment with it as long as you want. Try it!

It's not an iOS app. From what I understand you can stream audio from your iPad to a Mac (or PC, if that's what you want) or an Express. You'll have to read the release notes to be sure. Buying both the Mac and Windows versions together is only $40.

Not sure what you can do with an xbox.
