developer folder missing

developer folder missing

I recently reinstalled my entire OS, and after having done so I noticed that my Developer folder which was located in my root directory hadn't been able to migrate over from my system back up so I have gone and downloaded XCode from the Mac App store again and installed the additional downloads. Now here id the part i don't get how come even though I redownloaded xcode the developer folder is still missing from my root directory? and if it isn't in my root directory with the file path /Developer where is it? the fact that it is missing is causing programs like CodeBlocks, CodeLite, and CodeRunner nonfunctional since all three require the use of the code libraries and compilers which had been stored within this directory. Can anyone tell me how to solve this problem?

MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2010), Mac OS X (10.7.3)

The /Developer folder is no more for current versions of Xcode. Xcode is now an application bundle like any other application, located in the /Applications folder.

Um, ok well does any know how to download the installer for an earlier version of xcode so I can have the Developer folder, cause personally i don't give a **** about xcode i just want the developer folder and its contents so that I can get my Open Source software to work.

Some of the tools are a separate download, and others are inside the application bundle - see New Features in Xcode 4.3.

as an fyi I also had thought that if I installed the additional downloads listed within the preferences pane of xcode version 4.3 that my Developer folder might return, however installing those additional packages did not do this. which is when I decided i needed outside assistance. Thank you for your help though, I had not realized that the contents of the /Developer folder were now contained solely within the resources for /Applications/xcode.app

Hello everyone, so I am having the same issue with the missing Developer folder as quantumori00 has described. I am not sure I understand how this was resolved. What exactly do I need to download and install fromhttps://developer.apple.com/downloads/ to get the Developer folder back. My current version of XCode is 4.3.2. Thank you.

You would need to download from https://developer.apple.com/downloads/ any version of xcode prior to version 4.3; for instance I downloaded Xcode v4.2.1. After doing a fresh install of 4.2.1 I found that my Developer folder had ruturned to my root directory. Hope this helps and hasn't come too late to be fully beneficial to you.
