select multiple items in mail app

My iPad app doesn't remove mail that is no longer on the server, so it builds up in the inbox.

Is there no Refresh function that will clear stuff? Or a way to select multiple emails for deletion, instead of having to delete a hundred plus emails one at a time?

I don't see many options on the app; very frustrating.

Can anyone assist?

Press the edit button at the top of the list of mail in inbox or other folder. Then tap the empty circles and a red tick should appear in the tapped circles. The mail messages with the red ticks are selected and you can then move, mark or delete all selected messages at once.

You can also change settings in the 'Settings' app to only sync mail from 1 day, and some options up to one month then no limit. This will only sync mail received in the last 1 day, 2 days and so on. This is in settings, mail, select the account, then touch mail days to sync.
