iTunes cannot connect to the update server

My iTunes version is 10.6.0.40.

I cannont connect to the iTunes store or any of the update servers.

I've tried many solutions offered on the support forums as well as microsoft's support forums.

My network works fine for everything else... streaming video, playing multiplayer games, browsing web, purchasing products etc...

Any help is much appreciated.

Solutions tried:

Setting LAN to "automatically detect settings"

Clearing my "SSL state"

Flushing my DNS

Changing DNS servers

Restarting router

Configured router to accept iTunes

Resetting all internet explorer settings to default

Creating a new administrator account and using iTunes through it

Disabling all internet security programs

Disabling firewall

Checking the windows hosts file for apple update servers (none are listed, so this is fine I suppose)

Here is the results of my iTunes network diagnostic:

Reset your winsock.

Close your iTunes,

Go to command Prompt -

(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".

(Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt

In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in

netsh winsock reset

Hit "ENTER" key

Restart your computer.

If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.

Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.

If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:
