Cannot deliver from Producer. Getting home folder not writable error.

I'm new to iTunes Producer. I created a book using iBooks Author, but I'm getting an error when I try to deliver it to Apple. Producer says "Your home folder must be writable in order to save run-time configuration data. Please ensure your home folder exists and is writable.". I've tried sharing my home folder, but I haven't been able to grant read and write access. Anyone have a solution for this?
