Q: iPad 3 Why 3G does not work after being on WiFi

When I take my iPad 3 out of my house, I have to reboot it to get a 3G connection. The 3g icon shows that it is connected but when I try and access any connection it says no internet connection. My iPad 1 seemed to work ok. I've also tried putting it in Airplane mode and back again but this has no effect.

Any suggestions please? Many thanks.

The guy at he hotline said "even if there is hundreds of users claiming there is a problem, compared to the millions of devices we sell it does not mean there is an epidemic" (roughly) and then asking me to do the usual stuff: reset, factory settings, go to the store, send it back..

In some post I saw nearly the same. So maybe they have already a defined answer for that: deny the problem (until w found a solution or we get more pressure from press or users)

Having a defined answer means: they have identified there is problem...

Please tell me If the answer to you was about the same?

I think getting this into the press will move things along. I'll pass this onto my buddies at skynews and the guardian. Lets see how quickly Apple moves then - they hate bad press.

I have the same type of problem with my iPad3.  I'm in Missouri, using AT&T.  There is some spotty 4G coverage in the area to which the iPad will connect without difficulty.  But as I travel in the area, it shows no connectivity.  My iPhone can easily connect to 3G, but the iPad doesn't seem to even see the 3G or connect until it's either on Edge network or 4G again.

    Any suggestions?

I'm in Canada on the Rogers network, what has actually worked for me latetly (past couple days) is this:

I've turned off LTE under cellular data, and since then I have not had a problem.

The thing with Rogers in my city is that the LTE coverage is in the core of the city, in the suburbs not so much, and everywhere I've had the problem has been in a 3g coverage area only, yet my LTE switch was turned on.

Now that I've turned off LTE, these same areas (3g coverage only) that I was having problems with before, I am on the 3g network without the issue.

I turned off automatic carrier and set Optus manually. 3G seems to be working for the last couple hours.

Ok, so it's been a few hours now and 3G is still good after setting carrier settings to manual. Touch wood it continues. It's The longest it's ever worked.

Go to settings -> Carrier, and turn off automatic carrier. It will search for the telecom providers near you, yours will pop up, then select it. I've done it this morning and it's been good until now.

Just tried it - while on the phone with apple support in parallel - and it didn't help me. Apple support told me that they are aware of this and they're working on a fix. Will propably be a software update.

Thank you for your help anyway.

I googled "ipad dlxh" and the results start with 3g proplems from all around the globe. On macuser.de, a german apple forum, this thread has already 128 pages containing over 1.300 posts. Time to fix this.

DLXH8 here in UK. Same problem. Had the dreaded iPhone 3GS call drop out problem a couple of years back. Am I mad or am I mental for buying another Apple product?
