I thought iPad 3 comes with 4G, doesn't it?  What provider are you using it?

Copper tiger, something I don't understand in your theory: why does this problem apparently only affect the new iPad, not previous iPads or mobile phones which also have IP addresses assigned both through mobile broadband and wifi routers?

I can understand that their are complications maintaining the illusion of a continuous internet connection while moving between Wifi and mobile networks, particularly with added complications from limited mobile network IP leases, but I can't see why any of this is specific to the new iPad unless there is a hardware or software issue with it.

By searching on the Internet I finally found solution. I had same issue before a and tried different method.  This one will work. You need to reset network .

    Setting-general-reset-reset network settings

Derails on the link below te-cellular-data-network-with-new-ipad

I am sure it wil fix

It won't. Many people had tried it out and so did myself. You will end up with the same problem after a while.

    Hi Roy,

It fixed my iPad, now it's working perfectly.

the SIM Pin change workaround *seems* to have worked for me these past 2 days.

Will update more after 1-2 more days.

It did help my iPad for the rest of the day, but now I have the same problem again. I've spoken to apple customer service, and performing a reboot by holding power and home until red slider appears, and then powering on by holding power and home until apple logo appears also resolved the problem for a few hours. Today though my ipad again has to be rebooted after leaving home to get my 3g working.

    Thanks for the suggestion!

I m in Australia too, try reset your network, works for me.

    Hi Ger,

Sorry  it only last for few hours. I actually reset the network under 3G instead of under Wifi, not sure if this Will help.

    My one works fine.

    Hi Mina

It`s nice that this seems to have fixed your problem, but chances are that your problem will occur again

after some time, or maybe you actually are not experiencing this problem as frequently as me and others because you are not using it the same way (taking it in & out of wifi coverage or between locations with 3G and only Edge coverage??)

If you check through this and other similar post inside this forum you will notice that "resetting the network" is one of the first things we do everytime we run into this problem. The only thing is that the problem reoccurs after some time. For me and others which frequently take their Ipad on the road, run into this problem several times each day, and we than have to either reboot or reset the network settings to continue using the internet connection.

    Hi Coppertiger

Thank you for the informative post regarding the connectivity model.

However there is something left out of the equation:

Why is this only a problem on the New Ipad?

I never had this issue on my Ipad 2, Iphone 3G, 3GS or Iphone 4.

It does not make sense that Apple would try to reinvent the wheel on how their internet connectivity

should work for every new model they release. There should be no new for the new Ipad to connect to the 3G network as compared to

    let say the Ipad 2.

Also, 3G is a worldwide carrier standard and the only thing that would change is how Apple`s products connect to this standard.

Therefore I believe it this is a Apple problem entirely. The carriers are simply only offering the same service that they have always done, therefore

they really cannot be blamed for this.

    Hi Torqen,

Its good most people tried network reset which I am not aware of it. I need to switch 3 or 4 times a day between 3G and wifi, I am not sure if I wil get this problem again. But so at so good. If you have better solution pls let me know, thanks.

    Hi Torqen,

Did Apple promise will do something for this? I called Apple and they said I m the first customer having this issue, I do not believe this.

  • Torqen Level 1 (5 points)

    Hi Mina

When did you call apple? If this was within the last 2 days I would say that the guy you talked to either was

completely ignorant or upright lying to you, which would be totally unacceptable.

This is not a problem that only a few have reported this is a huge worldwide problem, and by now it is all over the media and I would not accept any customer service telling me that they have never heard about it before. It goes without saying that Apple has passed on instructions to customer service all over the world telling them to underexaggare and to calm the problem down to a smaller scale than it is. This is probably a strategy to try and save face and at the same time buy time.

The first time i talked to the customer service (Friday 30th of March)  they said they had never heard of the issue before. I explained that I thought that was pretty weird since there were several hundred incidents all over the world reporting it on the apple community.

The second time i called a few days later they admitted to have heard a small amount of customers report about this issue, and that if I had tried " resetting network settings" or doing a full restore with the problem still persisting, I should go back where I purchased it and get a replacement.

Since reading this forum I see a lot of other people also getting a replacement but most of them get the same issues again. Therefore I see little point in getting a replacement unless someone can actually

thruthfully say that they have gotten a replacement where this problem is non existent.

Either Apple tell me that this is a software error that can be fixed with an update or I am getting a refund. It`s as easy as that.

  • Mina_gu Level 1 (0 points)

    Hi Torqen,

Thanks for this. I think apple should now stand up and apologize instead of saving face.

I love apple stuff and do not want refund, but what they did really made me disappointed.

Hopefully there is something coming up soon.
