Blurry png image problems

Hi,

I really tried everything already and I still dont have a solution!: (

I made some images in illustrator in pgn format, that I want to integrate in my iBook. Png format is a must as the illustration background has to be transparent.

The bigger images are in png-8 (in order to reduce the book size), they are slightly blurry but the smaller ones, even if I changed them to png- 24 are extremely blurry!

The smaller images are around 388px x491px in illustrator. This is the size, that I can drag &drop into author without having to resize it.

It is, however still blurry.

Is there any way to make my images sharper on the new iPad?

I would be so thankful for a little help,

Kora

The standard bit depth for iOS icons and images is 24 bits (8 bits each for red, green, and blue), plus an 8-bit alpha channel.

Try that instead - use Preview (the Application) to save and confirm, then test on a device...

As well, you can't have both small image file size and premium image quality - pick one and accept the other. Should you have trouble deciding, I'd suggest going with quality 🙂

I am not sure what you mean by save & confirm in preview...

Through the proview application I tried a gif, a pdf, a png but the image was still blurry...I could improve the color slightly by the auto color fukrion but I couldn't get it more sharp.

Yes you are right about quality this would be my choice too, but be it an 8-png or a 24-png, the result is the same...: (

As it is a picture book, I have a lot of images. Maybe this is as good as it can get at the moment.
