1080i & apple tv 3
i've just ordered an Apple TV3 - but now thinking i'm wasting cash as the highest output/resolution my TV can display is 1080i.
am i right? should i just go for a (cheaper/refurb) Apple TV2 instead?
many thanks,
james.

Fits exactly the specifications of the Apple TV 3. The Apple TV 2 does not support 1080i.
thanks for your reply.
i think i'll find an Apple TV 2. as long as the software update offers mirroring i should be fine.
james.
so i've cancelled my Apple TV 3 - (sad face).
but seems 1080i is not supported therefore rendering my purchase utterly pointless. the most output i can hope for is 720p - so i might as well try and get a v2 model and update to the latest software version.
or buy a new telly! yeah right...
thanks,
james.
unless it's because you can the v2 model cheaper then it will not solve your problem it max support 720p
appreciate your reply.
i was thinking about getting a refurbed ATV2 from apple (currently not in stock) - i saw one recently for £79; i'll admit, not a massive saving off £99 for a new model.
as my tv will show 720p and ATV3 supports this, i'm thinking of going for the new model after all. chances are my 4 year old tv set will give out before the ATV does, then i'll buy a 1080p model. *in my dreams.
thanks,
james.
