Cutting together 1080p/720p Footage Question
Hi All,
I am just wondering if it is possible (Or even advisable) to drop 1080p and 720p onto the same timeline and then be able to export this as separate 1080p and 720p films? (I shoot with a EX3 and a 7D).
The reason I ask is that my clients like their films on both Blu Ray and DVD. If I export a 1080p project onto a Blu Ray it looks great but if I drop the same project onto a DVD (Using compressor) it looks awful.
If on the other hand I create the project initially in 720p on the timeline the DVD looks 100% better and the Blu Ray looks good but not as good as previously. (A happy medium I think).
The solution I am considering is to do the initial edit in 1080p and then export this using FCPX's export media function as opposed to the send to compressor option. Then burn this to Blu Ray. Then create a separate project in FCPX and drop in the 1080p file I have just exported, however change the project settings to 720p, then export this using the above method for the DVD.
Do you think this would work, do you forsee any problems and finally is there a better way of doing it!
Thanks for any help or advice!
