    Need more info. Your profile shows you running Mac OS 10.6; the eMacs this forum covers cannot run that OS. Can you give a more precise description of what you have?

    Sorry it was in my library when this happened. I believe it was running tiger at maybe, 10.4

    The audio signal has a low voltage, so I don't think that could be the cause. It might be possible  for some AC power leakage to the chassis ground & then to the ground side of the audio signal, but this would have to be a very unusual suituation. Is it repeatable, or just a one time occurance?

     

    Does the library have carpet and was the humidity low when this happened? Could have been static electricity from your walking on the carpet.

    Sounds like the eMac Bad Capacitors problem.
