Q: remote master files

I have my master files located on a time capsule and only keep a copy of them on my laptop for filesize reasons. So I could view the photos and edit the masters when I was connected to the time capsule. When I was not connected I could only view them in a offline fashion.

I reecently wiped and re-installed my os on my laptop then restored from a time capsule backup.

Now when I open apperture the perview icons are not showing up, and the local computer version is no longer avalible.

When I am connected to the drive and open Aperture I am not able to re-conect the masters, when I first open it the symbol shows its offline then for a few seconds shows online then back to offline.

I tried the reconect referenced files menu, and I can browse to the origionals but it will not re-connect...

any ideas?

    Hallo,

sorry, your screenshots are not showing:

Can you please post them again, so we can see what the trouble might be?

In the meantime just a shot in the dark: I once managed to reconnect stubborn masters by reconnecting them in easy installments on the system drive:

    • Copy the masters for one project at a time back onto my system drive (as many as the available local space will permit)
    • reconnect them while on the system volume
    • relocate them again onto the external volume - btw: I only use local volumes, not remote volumes
(Aperture: Use locally mounted Mac OS X Extended volumes for your Aperture library:http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3252)

Have you checked the permissions on the missing masters? What do you see, when you do "Get Info" on one of the masters? Can it be that your own privileges have changed, after you recreated your user account when reinstalling the system? Username, groups?

Now when I open apperture the perview icons are not showing up, and the local computer version is no longer avalible.

This looks like the Aperture Library itself may not have been restored correctly. Do you have a second backup of the library, besides your Time Machine backup? A vault maybe? Then I'd try to restore the library from the vault. Otherwise I'd try the "Aperture Library First Aid" - repair the permissions, repair the library - as described here:

    Regards

    Léonie
