Q: Apple TV Drops from Home Sharing

I am having issues with my Apple TV 2 dropping from Home Sharing after roughly 5 minutes of usage.  I currently have the latest updates installed for iTunes, Apple TV and my time capsule router.  I've done a hard reset on the router, my modem, turned off home sharing and turned off Wi-Fi sync.  I've also turned off home sharing on the Apple TV, reset all my computers (two MacBooks and a MacBook Pro all running 10.6.8) and then restarted everything.  The system works for roughly five minutes, but then the problem starts up again.  The system used to work fine, but I've done a few things recently that may have started the problem, such as installing the newest version of Apple TV, installed iOS five on my phone and purchased two new iPads.  I feel confident that the Apple TV is the issue, because the same thing occurs with all three of my computers and airplay and mirroring does not work with my iPhone or iPad's.

I've search the forums for other fixes, but haven't come across anything that seems to work.  Does anyone have any other suggestions on how to solve this problem?

Thanks,

Ryan

Glad you've sorted things too, though would be better if apple sorted wifi rather than me having to crawl under the floorboards...

Discussions on this subject are nice, but not very helpful in solving the problem (or dit I miss something). It ssems a lot of ATV users have this problem and when asking at an Apple Center nobody seems to know anythins about this subject.

Let us starting to talk how we can force Apple to solve it. For instance, staring with a massive returning the not working product back action and asking for a software wifi repait on the ATV due to malfunctioning. Are we some kind of all consuming Apple fans? Even when the product is very obvious not doing what it should do?

I continue to have issues with Airplay.  Since upgrading to ios7 the airplay constantly drops.  I've tried to determine any setting that affects this but so far it's just not working any longer.  All software is up to date, so I am hoping that Apple with fix this....without this being a reliable functionality I lose about 50% of the purpose of having these products.

I originally had a Billion router running my wireless network and had awful problems with AirPlay so I took a bit of a punt, bought an Airport Express and now run my wireless network on that. No more issues - it all works perfectly.

It's very poor that you need all-Apple kit for it to work...

Thanks I forgot to do this. I just wiped and reinstalled Yosemite 10.10

Great article on how to disable IPV6

    http://osxdaily.com/2014/04/18/disable-ipv6-mac-os-x/

Turning off IPv6 support for ethernet:
    networksetup -setv6off Ethernet

    Disabling IPv6 for wireless:
    networksetup -setv6off Wi-Fi

You can also combine both of those commands into a single string to disable both wireless and ethernet, just use the following syntax:

    networksetup -setv6off Ethernet && networksetup -setv6off Wi-Fi

Be sure to enter that string onto a single line to issue the command properly.

This is EXACTLY what is happening with me! It's driving me crazy and I'm TOTALLY not a tech person.
