Why aren't there colored flags available iCloud Mail?

I've made the switch to iCloud but am highly disappointed in the limitations of iCloud Mail and Mail compared to Gmail. I have several issues that I'm frustrated with but one of the most annoying is that there appears to be no option to use colored flags (or the "flagged" smart mailbox) in iCloud mail! In Mail on my Mac I utilize many different colored flags for different reasons. Why is it that Apple doesn't carry this feature over to iCloud mail? It creates a huge problem because every flag (no matter what color I mark it in Mail), comes up orange in iCloud Mail. When they are all orange, there is no way to differentiate what is what. This seems like such a basic feature. While I love the syncing of iCloud, I'm highly disappointed in the iCloud Mail interface. I switched from Gmail and definitely miss the much more efficent and organizational aspects of it. Does anyone know if Apple will be addressing this poor user interface in iCloud Mail? I mean, Apple are supposed to be the innovators! I really expected more.

We know as much about Apple's reasons for doing things and their future plans as you do. You can send feedback to Apple here:

However, this limitation is in the industry standard IMAP mail protocol, not iCloud specifically. See the explanation from Zach here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3359119?answerId=17190135022#17190135022

but which also suggests that flag colours should sync through iCloud. I've not tried though.
