Mar 22, 2012 6:19 AM in response to Jeinerby diesel vdub,There is no issue with Wi-Fi in iOS 5.1 or any version of iOS for that matter.
Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Has any of this been tried?
What about Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings?

Mar 23, 2012 4:18 AM in response to diesel vdubby Jeiner,This is clearly related to software and the upgrade.
The Iphone show no WI-FI network
I can write the WI-FI name, and the I can connect to that wi-fi and the Iphone can reconnet to the Wi-FI when back from out of range.
If Idisable WI-FI on the Iphone I am back to squre one, ie no WI-FI name on the Iphone.
What can me local Apple store help me with?

Mar 23, 2012 5:08 AM in response to Jeinerby diesel vdub,So now the circumstances have changed? Initially the device did not detect and could not connect to any Wi-Fi hotspots... now it can?
Sorry, but that just makes no logical sense.
Please provide accurate and complete details, otherwise you're just wasting everyone's time.

Mar 23, 2012 10:02 AM in response to diesel vdubby Vocalman,NO, I am going through the same thing. The wifi will kind of appear for one bar, then go away.. only able to access 3G.. the sometimes it will only come up with the E. My wife's iphone, which does NOT have the update works fine.. sitting next to each other. The wifi issue happens every where I go. Not just at home. Restored twice. So, yes, it is an issue. I have seen this posted in other forums too.. and no one has a fix.

Mar 25, 2012 2:05 AM in response to Jeinerby JPA_R,I have the same problem on my 4S with iOS 5.1 upgrade. The WiFi pick-up with my iPad with 5.0.1 is still ok, but my 4S on the same spot turns to 3G, and bevor the upgrade, no issue with WiFi. My 3G with 4.3 has no issues. My iMac has no issues.
I changed my Time Capsel Username and Password and also my WiFi name and WEB2 password, but issue is still there.
Noway this is an issue with the iPhone 4S but with iOS 5.1.
iPhone 3G 16GB FW: 4.3; Apple TV2; iMac 24"-3.06Mhz, 1Tb, 8GB; Timecapsel 1TB; iPod Nano 16BG; iPhone 4S 16GB FW: 5.1; iPad 2 64GB

Mar 25, 2012 5:33 PM in response to Jeinerby jcobdrouillard,I have the same problem. As soon as I upgraded to 5.1, my iPhone 4 no longer connected to wifi networks. I can go to the wifi tab in my settings, turn wifi on and off, as well as manually search for hidden networks, but no wifi networks show up as recognized. I also tried manually searching for my home network but the iPhone was not able to find it.
Clearly this is an issue with the 5.1 firmware update because it has occured on multiple devices all with the same update.
Personal note to Diesel vdub: You were being rude, and showing no consideration to the possibility of this issue.
Jeiner is not wasting anybody's time, as I found it very helpful knowing that other people are having the same issue I have. It is reassuring that it is not a hardware issue. I'm sure everyone would appreciate a little courtesy in the forums.

Mar 26, 2012 8:21 AM in response to jcobdrouillardby Jeiner,Dear Apple
Nice to see that I am not alone – thanks for the comment and support.
This is clearly a problem for some owner of Apple hardware, not all. Right now my Iphone shows No WIFI. If I type the name of my own WIFI then two thing can happen. If I am 5-10 yards away from the accespoint – the Iphone cannot find the WIFI. If I am within 1 yard form the accespoint the Iphone can connect to the WIFI.
Could it be that Apple - to save battery power - have reduce wifi receiver and transmission and for some product with a particularly chipset form another supplier experience these WIFI problem?
Could Apple please verify that they have or have not change the condition for WIFI, even though Apple have done plenty of test?

Mar 29, 2012 2:51 AM in response to Jeinerby LastStraw,i'm having the same problem. I have to manually connect to the wifi network, and once it's connected, it doesn't have "forget this network" any more.
I tried restart, reset, restore, none worked.

Mar 29, 2012 6:10 PM in response to Jeinerby kcdebi,Same problem here - restored in every way I can research and no wifi. I thought it was a battery issue until I got a text from AT&T about approaching my data limit - I have no idea how long I've been without wifi, but once I turn off wifi so it stops looking for a connection, I no longer have a battery drain problem.
