Q: no WI-FI after IOS 5.1

Right after upgrding my Iphone 3GS to IOS 5.1 I have had serius problemet getting the Iphone to see - even well know - WI-FI. When I open the WI-FI it shown no WI-F spotI. It does not even show my own WI-FI with the Iphone is placed within 1 yard from the access spot. Rebooting or turn WI-FI on/ff does not change anything.

Can see that this is not the first time Apple had had problem with wi-fi.

Please fix-it soon. An Iphone without WI-FI access is just a mobilhone.

Am I the only persen with this problem?

iPhone 3GS, iOS 5.1, no wi-fi

Same problem here...shortly after upgrading iPhone 3GS to IOS 5.1, wifi drops, disappears, has terrible fluctuating range. (only a few feet of range from new airport extreme)

iPhone 3gs now can't seem to consistently see any wifi.

Have tried restart, reset network settings, etc. Nothing resolves. Appears to be a 5.1 software bug for iPhones.

Same problem here. After iOS update my iPhone 3GS has problems finding Wifi acces point. My iPad has on THE Same spot no problems. Before update never problems. It seefs that the power of the wifi had gone down with the update??? If access, really short in time and very unstable. Apple consider this problem and fix it please.

Hello, i too have the same problem.

    iPhone 3GS, iOS 5.1.

Currently it seems the power of wifi dropped.

All other wifi devices receive signal, iPhone neither see the network.

Closer to the router the iPhone can connect, but already a few steps away the signal drops and disconnects.

    Tried reset, but no effect.

Please help: better less battery than no wifi.

I am having the exact same problem. I turned on my ipod and all it showed me was a connect to itunes screen. Once I connected it, it forced me to update to the newest version of the software. Version 5.1. After that update I have had a greyed out wifi option on my ipod. Same thing with the bluetooth option.

Does anyone know how to maybe go back to the last version of the software. Or if someone has tried that did it work?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,

I'm experiencing the same/similar problem: after update to iOS 5.1 my 3GS can't use the WiFi network. I'm seeing all WiFi networks around me, can connect to my own WiFi but I get no internet/mail/sync over WiFi. My wife's iPhone 4 is working perfectly with the same iOS version and WiFi network. While waiting for an update to solve the problem I'm getting close to my dataplan limits…

    Dear Apple

Some kind of respond would be appreciated. This problem with an apple product has new been unsolved and uncomments since 12. of march - that is not taking care of your customers.

For what it is worth see this link:

    http://appadvice.com/appnn/2012/04/report-apple-confirms-there-is-a-huge-problem -with-the-new-ipad

In the article it is mention that owner of the Ipad3 can get a replace. How about users with an Iphone with similar problem - can we get a replace to?

I have iPhone 3GS and iPad 1, both running iOS 5.1.

After iOS 5.1 update iPhone has all described problems with wifi connectivity on home network or any other wifi.

In desperation to find a solution to my problem I've stumbeld upon following post. And as odd as this might seem it somehow seems to work better. So if you are having wifi on your iPhone after iOS 5.1 update try to do the following (this was described by an iPhone 4s 32g user with Verizon service) :

      - airplane mode on

      - power off phone

      - power on phone

      - airplane mode off

      - wifi on

    Reestablish your wifi connection.

I've done this yesterday (2-3 times just to make sure) and it seems to work better than before. User that posted this workaround said 'it has worked like a charm since than'. I yet have to see will it be a charm or not, but as I said it seems to work better than before once you establish wifi connection.

I hope this helps anyone else who has been having the same issue that I had.

To make a long story short, this 'solution' doesn't work for my iPhone 3GS device ... Obviously I'll need to wait for iOS 5.? and hope it will fix the problem ...

I'm posting a solution for my iPhone3GS with wifi issues on iOS 5.1.

The only thing that worked is:

    1. go to Settings > General > Reset > Erasing All Content and Settings

    2. and then 'Setup as a new iPhone'

Do not choose 'Restore from iCloud backup / Restore from iTunes' because it will just not work, and as I've read somewhare it picks up and old piece of code from backups that is causing problems. It didn't work for me, Ive tried everything.

It takes time to recover all apps and to set up iPhone from scratch step by step, but at least now it works as it use to, without wifi issues and on iOS 5.1. ...

    Good luck ...

A total restore of an iPhone 3Gs did NOT solve the problem...Restored as new... It's still completely the same issue with Wi-Fi...

Apple: For how long are we going to wait for you to find a solution?
