no WI-FI after IOS 5.1

There is no issue with Wi-Fi in iOS 5.1 or any version of iOS for that matter.

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Has any of this been tried?

What about Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings?

Then it's time for a trip to the local Apple store or whomever provides support in your country.

So now the circumstances have changed? Initially the device did not detect and could not connect to any Wi-Fi hotspots... now it can?

NO, I am going through the same thing. The wifi will kind of appear for one bar, then go away.. only able to access 3G.. the sometimes it will only come up with the E. My wife's iphone, which does NOT have the update works fine.. sitting next to each other. The wifi issue happens every where I go. Not just at home. Restored twice. So, yes, it is an issue. I have seen this posted in other forums too.. and no one has a fix.

i have the same problem on my ipod touch 3G, i update it to 5.1 and the wifi button is not available

and the bluetooth is also unavailable

I also have the same problem of disappearance of wifi connection on 3GS, in updated iOS 5.1 😟

Is there anyone that solves this issue?

I am having the same problem too my wifi worked perfect on 5.0.1 but now it does appear connects then disconnects the is not availble again :/

I have the same problem on my 4S with iOS 5.1 upgrade. The WiFi pick-up with my iPad with 5.0.1 is still ok, but my 4S on the same spot turns to 3G, and bevor the upgrade, no issue with WiFi. My 3G with 4.3 has no issues. My iMac has no issues.

I changed my Time Capsel Username and Password and also my WiFi name and WEB2 password, but issue is still there.

Noway this is an issue with the iPhone 4S but with iOS 5.1.

I have the same problem. As soon as I upgraded to 5.1, my iPhone 4 no longer connected to wifi networks. I can go to the wifi tab in my settings, turn wifi on and off, as well as manually search for hidden networks, but no wifi networks show up as recognized. I also tried manually searching for my home network but the iPhone was not able to find it.

Clearly this is an issue with the 5.1 firmware update because it has occured on multiple devices all with the same update.

Jeiner is not wasting anybody's time, as I found it very helpful knowing that other people are having the same issue I have. It is reassuring that it is not a hardware issue. I'm sure everyone would appreciate a little courtesy in the forums.

i'm having the same problem. I have to manually connect to the wifi network, and once it's connected, it doesn't have "forget this network" any more.

I tried restart, reset, restore, none worked.

Same problem here - restored in every way I can research and no wifi. I thought it was a battery issue until I got a text from AT&T about approaching my data limit - I have no idea how long I've been without wifi, but once I turn off wifi so it stops looking for a connection, I no longer have a battery drain problem.

Same problem here...shortly after upgrading iPhone 3GS to IOS 5.1, wifi drops, disappears, has terrible fluctuating range. (only a few feet of range from new airport extreme)

iPhone 3gs now can't seem to consistently see any wifi.

Have tried restart, reset network settings, etc. Nothing resolves. Appears to be a 5.1 software bug for iPhones.
