Q: no WI-FI after IOS 5.1

Right after upgrding my Iphone 3GS to IOS 5.1 I have had serius problemet getting the Iphone to see - even well know - WI-FI. When I open the WI-FI it shown no WI-F spotI. It does not even show my own WI-FI with the Iphone is placed within 1 yard from the access spot. Rebooting or turn WI-FI on/ff does not change anything.

Can see that this is not the first time Apple had had problem with wi-fi.

Please fix-it soon. An Iphone without WI-FI access is just a mobilhone.

Am I the only persen with this problem?

iPhone 3GS, iOS 5.1, no wi-fi

Why are you so snarky?  I bought a NEW iphone 4 adn had wifi.

I Did the upgrade to 5.1.1 connected to itunes on the ATT network and POOF wifi is GRAYED OUT.

WHY IS THAT?!  I had wifi when Ipicked it up from the store last week and now I don't using 5.1.1.

This is CLEARLY and apple upgrade issue and NOTHING MORE.

Same problem. I upgrade to 5.1.1 and now I can't connect to any wifi networks. My phone can find them, but won't connect or even let me try to enter passwords. It just says unable to connect. My IPad3, not yet updated, still connects just fine.

When is Apple going to fix? Do they plan on reimbursing everyone for data overage charges? This is rediculous.

How can I go back and switch to an old software version until Apple gets a clue and fixes this?

Are you on Apples payroll? The 5.1.1 update has left many including myself with little or no Wifi capability, So is it a coincidence that I and many others have this issue IMMEDIATELY after allowing the 5.1.1 update? Apple have screwed the Wifi before on devices such as iPad and have done it yet again. diesel vdub you are a rude and arrogant individual so don't get smart with people with genuine issues that are being caused by APPLES usual incompetance.

BTW the apple store stated to me that losing wifi after an iOS upgrade should NOT happen.

    I'm still in warranty

    My phone is being replaced.

It is an update issue I am sure. Glad you're getting a replacement but I am sure you will agree the hardware isn't really at fault. I found out today from a reliable source who has a relative that works at an Apple store that updating via wifi or 3G has been known to cause issues.

Same problems here for older routers 802.11g. Works ok on new ones 802.11n which is ok at home but cool for hotspots. When will this get fixed?!?

The lack of communication from Apple on this matter is hugely frustrating.

I'm using an iPhone 4s and an iPad 2 both on iOS 5.1.1, I have no wifi issues with my iPad but have frequent problems with wifi connectivity on my iPhone. At least if Apple came out, acknowledged the problem and devised as to when we could expect a fix then we'd know where we stood...off to Genius Bar for my 5th replacement in 6 months!!

I'm also having this problem. Iphone 3gs, all wifi working well and then I installed ios 5.1.1 through Itunes connected through USB, so not over 3g or Wifi. Locating my wifi networks is now appauling and even when I force the phone to find wifi networks through either standing right next to the router and getting the router to look for devices or through by stating the name of the network on the phone that I'm looking to join, then the wifi strenght is typically 1 bar when used to be more or full bars and once out of range will the not automatically re-join.

Wife's ipad not upgraded and wifi networks working fine as per how they used to on my phone. Don't believe this is hardware at all given the above and I had a replacement phone from apple 3 months ago. Apple please fix asap as very annoying!!!!

Is there any way to return my iphone 4S operating system to revision 5.1.0 or 5.0.1 or 5.0.0 in order to enable the WIFI functionallity and give more time to Apple experts to find a solution for the issue?

Come on guys, I'm sure Apple has all responsible party working overtime on fixing this issue, just give them some time.

    Same....

I upgraded BOTH my iPhone 4s to 5.1.1

    1 via Wi-Fi

    1 via iTunes

The iPhone I used with Wi-Fi to download the upgrade has made

    The Wi-Fi facility usess.

It will not find any networks.

However the update via iTunes has made no problems.

Apple - please provide a fix for this immediately. The lack of response from you is appalling and very worrying.

OK, .. since originally posting, I want to ask a question or two to all:

How many of you did the update through WIFI update?

What service (ATT, Verizon, etc) do you have?

It is SOUNDING like more and more are having issues that didn't hook up via USB to iTunes. So maybe something with the WIFI update integration is this issue..

I did the update through iTunes and I have AT&T,

I lost both wifi AND bluetooth when I upgraded to 5.1.1

I took my phone back to apple and it was replaced - I'm not upgrading again.
