May 28, 2012 2:47 AM in response to Vocalmanby atwscotland,I also did update through 3G wirelessly on Vodafone in UK. My phone is well out of guarantee and nearest Apple store 60 miles away. Calling them for support costs ridiculous rates on the phone and travelling to store also excessive. Why should we be out of pocket to fix an issue they should know about and should be fixing. Apples silence on this says it all. I won't ever use another of their products again now that there are far better products available. The arrogance of Companies like Apple is typical.

May 28, 2012 3:08 AM in response to atwscotlandby breen77,With this being a forum on the official Apple support site you'd like to think the comments would be monitored and possibly even replied to in some official capacity: like I alluded to in a previous post; if Apple were to advise that they were working on a solution to the problem and to expect a fix soon then it would certainly go a long way to appeasing those with the fault. Unfortunately this is not the case and therefore I have to agre with you on your view on Apple.
Poor customer service.

May 28, 2012 12:38 PM in response to Vocalmanby Elv1s,I also did the upgrade through USB through iTunes
Also have to agree with the other comment about a lack of reply from apple.
Really poor cust service.
For all those that have viewed this topic it would be great if you also posted your problems so that Apple understand the scale of the issue.

May 28, 2012 12:45 PM in response to Jeinerby killiescotland,I have a 3GS and an iPad2 they are both on 5.1.1, but the iPhone keeps dropping out and the iPad continues working? I have tried various methods of fixing this problem, but to no avail!
Come on Apple, sort it out sooner rather than later.

May 28, 2012 8:07 PM in response to killiescotlandby JPA_R,Is anybody having a worse battery consumption since/due to the WiFi problem?
I have a more than once a wifi Signal dropout from 3 to 0 to change to 3g and back to wifi if I go to preferencis. This is costing battery. It won't last for a day anymore.
Where is Apple?

Jun 1, 2012 12:20 PM in response to mydoshby Claytonht,I'm having what appears to be a similar issue. Normally I have my phone on 3G, so I could care less, but when I swith to wifi so I can use FaceTime, it's cutting my calls off. I'd love to have wifi work, or have Apple let me use 3G for FaceTime.

Jun 6, 2012 5:14 AM in response to Jeinerby ywamer,I had this same problem too... and on the day beginning a roadtrip. So i needed WiFi to work urgently.
I was a bit ticked off, but resolved this issue and now WiFi is working perfectly. No problems.
This is what I did -- from the Apple WiFi Support page:
RESET NETWORK SETTINGS
To reset your network settings, tap Settings > General, then scroll down and tap Reset > Reset Network Settings.
When the device restarts, try to locate and join the Wi-Fi network again.
That did it for me. Thank God!

Jun 6, 2012 5:23 AM in response to JPA_Rby breen77,My battery also was draining quicker once Wifi stopped working.
I took my iPhone back to Apple last week and they confirmed thay they were unable to fix the Wifi issue on the handset and supplied me with a new one...my 5th iPhone 4s.

Jun 6, 2012 12:39 PM in response to Jeinerby Elv1s,Just thought I'd share that I was reading in another one of these discussions that Apple do not monitor these forums for technical issues and they use a feedback process.
http://www.apple.com/feedback/
I've just submitted my problem and if the above is the case then it might be worth everyone submitting some product feedback as I've still not found a solution despite trying all the suggested fixes!!!

Jun 12, 2012 11:53 AM in response to Jeinerby mb910799,Same issue here with iPhone 4 and iPad 2. After 5.1.1 update on both the wi-fi is very unpredictable. Wi-fi symbol is there but keeps on coming up with unable to loin network. Router is working finer as laptops connecting with no problem. Tried the Airplane mode fix as well as the reset network fix but still the same issue. Iphone is out of guarantee period (bought Dec 2010). Really want to revert back to the standard 5.0 as there were no problems. Very poor that Apple don't have a fix yet.
