IMEI number?

IMEI number?

Ok basically what happened was my iPhone 4 got stolen on Tuesday night.

The next day i went into my carriers store and blocked my number and got a new sim.

Now I need to give the police my IMEI number and phone description.

I have tried going onto iTunes > Edit > Preferences > Devices

But when I mouse over my iPhone all that comes up is my phone number, there is no IMEI displayed.

How else can I get IMEI number? My carrier said to look on the back of the box it came in but that is at home and I am a student living away from home.

Any help would greatly be appricated 🙂

Do you have the PC or laptop that you sync your iPhone with with you? If so, read this support document http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1267, pay attention to this section:

@impious-rocker, I think that will only give you the serial number of the device, not the IMEI

Yeh that is what I tried and it only shows my phone number, not the IMEI or the Serial number like it should do in that tutorial.

@impious-rocker, and yeh the support site only shows the serial number, no IMEI

The easiest way might be to ring up who has the box you phone came in and get them to read out the 15 digit number.

UPDATE:

Yes I am aware that the image I posted from Google Images is NOT the box of a iPhone.

That's odd as it should show phone number, Serial number and EMEI number. In that case you may have little choice but to call home and ask them to look on the box as b j t suggested.
