will apple honor the warranty if the unit was bought in the gray market?

I found out that brand new iphone 4s which I received as a gift was bought in a gray market, when I learned of that thing I immediately check its warranty at the apple support and entered the hardware serial number. Great to know that it was recognized and still the repair and service coverage is active.

A couple of months later after its acquisition the unit's loudspeaker goes off. I recently asked in this forum on the thing apple will do on my 2 month old iphone 4s which hardware problem appeared (not yet dicovered that it was from a gray market). I was pleased with the response of good guys that it will be replaced with a refurbished unit. Now, what will I do to claim a replacement if it was from a gray market?

Please help me on this. Thank you.

You need a receipt for that. 'Grey' market prices are lower for a reason.

The problem with buying on the 'Grey' market is that the phone may not have been originally sold in your country. The iPhone warranty is based in the original country of purchase. You will need to see if the phone was intended for the Philippines. If so then take it into your carrier for evaluation. If it came from another country you will need to ship the phone to someone you know in that country for them to take it in for service. All shipping costs would be at your expense.

If the unit is still under warranty and has not been jailbroken or otherwise modified, then Apple will still provide service and, if necessary, a replacement.

Note, though, that many grey-market iPhones come from outside of the country in which you purchase. An iPhone can be serviced only in the country in which it was originally sold, so you may find that your "grey market" iPhone cannot be serviced in the Philippines.
