Apple TV 3 supports 1080p@60 Hz and 1080p@50 Hz. But what about 1080p@24 Hz ?
I get only 720p@60 with my Apple TV 3 whereas my TV supports 1080i, 1080p@24Hz, 1080p@50Hz, 1080p@60Hz. I think I'm limited to 720p because of my HDMI transmitter. See this FAQ.

The Apple TV doesn't support output at 24 Hz. If your TV supports 1080p at 50/60 Hz, the Apple TV will offer these output options unless there is something between them that is causing a problem. Is this what you meant by HDMI transmitter.
Though the rentals will probably be 24 fps...
Seems a bit strange not to offer it these days.

There really aren't all that many 24 Hz TV's, indeed I'd never heard of one until now. 24 fps is more often dealt with by way of a frequency that is a multiple of requirements, I.e. 120 Hz
I would suspect more the philips messed up with the specs on their site
24Hz would look like an old Charles Chaplin movie

you get max 1/2 of the Hz as fps so 24Hz signal would give you a fps of 12fps and thats

it's the same nyquist that mean that the American 60Hz AC system give them 30fpg on std. tv
where EU with a 50Hz AC system get 25fps
You're right. Phillips makes a mistake. They use 1080@24 Hz instead of 1080p24 which means 24 fps.
I rephrase my question : Apple TV 3 supports 1080p30 (60 Hz) and 1080p25 (50 Hz). But what about 1080p24 ?
This is important for my installation because my wireless HDMI transmitter supports only 1080i and 1080p24 but the 1080i is not supported by Apple TV 3.

That doesn't make any sense. 1080p/24 is a video specification not a signal specification. 1080p/24 is a video specification that is supported by the Apple TV, but it outputs at 1080p@50/60 Hz. Your wireless transmitter cannot support 1080p/24 because it doesn't play video.
Reading the page you link to, Philips do mean 1080p @ 24 Hz, but this makes it a rather strange device. In actual fact, I believe that your problem is that not only is your transmitter not fully compatible with the Apple TV, it is probably not fully compatible with your TV.

Hmmm, here is the interesting part of user guide of my transmitter (Philips SWW1800) :
The 1080p support is very limited (no 50 Hz / 60 Hz). I suppose it is implied by the wireless bandwith.

Hopefully my transmitter works very well with all my devices excepts ATV3 :-) PS3 is well supported with 1080i 60 Hz mode. Neufbox TV (kind of digital decoder) works well with 1080i 50 Hz mode.
Conclusion : I will not be able to see any HD 1080 movie with my Apple TV 3 as long as it doen't support any 1080i mode. Am I right ?
Yes that's correct. 1080i is now somewhat outdated, and Apple have chosen not to support it.
