Same pronlem here is the 3g lock in someay?

iPads are not "locked". If it is not making a 3G connection then I suspect there is a problem with the carrier, sim card, 3G data plan, or 3G signal. Your carrier does offer and support an iPad 3G data plan correct? This plan is not the same as a telephone plan.

My sim card in an ipad2 works on 3g without a problem. Apple told me an ipad3 bought at best buy(att ver) the 3g could be locked.

How can it be a sim or network problem?

Well you got incorrect information. iPads are not locked.

I'm in telecom sector working for all providers in suriname. I just came from the company that supports 3g on 850mhz.

They did a trace om the imei/imsi.

The ipad 2 connect to 3g networks(seen at switch level) and the ipad3 never tries to connect to 3g it goes directly to edge. It not that it fails or smth similair it just doesnt connect 3g network.

I think the att 3g is locked because as above the att 3g sim with international data works on the same network on 3g.

I'm going to buy a verizon version as both have same umts:hspa frequencies on lte differ and here we don't have lte.

I have seen the verizon version working on hspa+(4g) att network.

I know for a fact that the 3g freq is not lock. I'll keep everybody posted.

I'm going to test the just installed(we installed hauwei equipmenth 3g network different carrier. This carrier is on 2100

From research i know att uses 850/1900 mhz for umts/hpsa in the usa

tested the sim card of the other provider.

Normal sim card non 3g: No service on ipad3 and on ipad2 works with edge

Usim 2g card: no service on ipad3 and on ipad2 works with 3g

i strongly belive certain frequency don't work on the att ipad.

i know for a fact that both providers use different frequencies for GSM/EDGE and 3G.

More testing ATT sim activated in the USA added international data plan.

On ipad3 goes to provider(that has 3g) on EDGE

On ipad2 goes to provider(that has 3g) on 3g and roams without a problem.

So this tells me it's realy something with the IPAD3 and frequencies or being locked

after resetting the ipad 5 times with att roaming sim i got 3g on the new ipad.

removed sim put same network local sim card... no 3g only edge.

i need to reset/wipe my ipad a few times before it will roam with att sim on 3g(local sim same network will never show 3g).

If i have 3g anything below i do the 3g will drop and not come back up until you wip/reset the ipad a few times.

Loosing 3G connection and never get it back:

Toggle Airplane mode

Tollge cellur data on/off

Insert/remove sim card

Toggle Cellular data on/off

Hi from Papua New Guinea.

Believe it or not but I am having the same problem here.

Most annoying as I have been an apple fan since the very first Apple Mac 128 K.

This I05s system software updating method is not in the old Apple ( Steve Jobs ) original spirit of doing things.

More like the dreaded Microsoft.

When is there going to be a fix for this and how can I get it cheap here.
