Gmail / iCloud

Can anyone help, I am utterly confused.

I have just updated snow leopard to Mac OS Xv10.7Lion on my mac book and Iphone 4 to 5.1 to allow for the chnage from mobile me to icloud.

I have a mobile me account, but I also have 3 gmail accounts that I would like to keep and not change. Can I move this to icloud and have them sync on both iphone and my macbook. So far this has been great syncing on mobile me. I want to be able to carry on, please say that this is possible? Many thanks

Just to say I managed to visit the apple shop yesterday and they assured me that gmail will sync in with icloud, as it odes with mobile me.

Gmail and iCloud do not and will not 'sync', but there is nothing to stop you putting your gmail accounts and your icloud accounts on the same phone, or in the same copy of mail on your mac.

Now I am confused again. I will not be changing over until the end of June.
