So am I.  All working again.  But it would be usfeul if under their main site they noted the fact that they are having server problems.

    Thanks for the solidarity.

    Hello,

I've seen this post and several other posts on these forums with the same problem I was having.

I made this quick video showing you how I got the iCloud email server back to working function.

    Hope this helps.

I finally got my mail working once Apple finally posted on iCloud Status that they had a problem.  Within minutes everything was working.  Although I lost my "sent" folder in my iCloud group on my Mac when I set up using p99.imap.mail.me.com. Sent messages on still on the iCloud website but not on my Mac. Thanks for excellent video. My question for you: Now that I am connected to that strange iCloud p99-imap.mail.me.com server, should I delete it and install the IMAP server setting imap.mail.me.com following your instructions?

Personally, I would set it up as imap.mail.me.com

I imagine the address gets distributed to individual servers based on availability and load.

The letter-number combination is likely a server location and numbering system to help with administration, so you end up with servers with names like p99-imap.mail.me.com and p07-imap.mail.me.com or something like that.

It seems that lots of the mac.com and mobileMe users got assigned directly to the p99 server. And when that server ran into problems over the last couple days, it effected many users.

If those user's accounts had been set to imap.mail.me.com their traffic would have been re-directed seamlessly to a functioning server and they wouldn't have noticed there was any problems.

In essense, the "automatic" setup is the only thing that failed when it assigns you directly to p99 instead of the controlling server imap.mail.me.com

Thanks.  I wish you had signed on earlier in the day.  I spent hours "chatting" with Apple tech support to resolve this problem. To no avail of course.  By the way would you happen to know why the sent box on my Mac disappeared when I finally got everything else working?

In the Account preferences, on the Mailbox Behaviors tab is the settings for Sent Items.

Mine is checked to Store sent messages on the server and Delete sent messages is set to One month old.

I would assume that your sent messages weren't stored on the server or had been set to a shorter time period for deletion.

Issue resolved... keep reading if you would like more information!

Like many others... I've been having issues with iCloud mail on my Mac for the last few days (iCloud mail is fine on all iOS devices).  Tried many different suggestions posted in this and other threads and nothing seemed to fix my issue.

I called my Dad to see if he was having any issues with iCloud mail on his Mac... he stated he was having no issues.  I logged into his computer and compared his iCloud mail settings with mine... and found that we both had the same address for incoming mail server "p99-imap.mail.me.com".  I clicked on the "Advanced" tab and found here's where I found the answer to my problem!  My "authentication" method was set for "password"... while his was set to "Apple Token".  I decided to change mine to "Apple Token"... and lo and behold... my iCloud mailbox is back online on my Mac.

In reading the different solutions suggested... it appears that results may vary... so this may work for some and not others... probably depending on what each individual's issue is.  Hopefully this will help some of you resolve your mail issue too!

Go to www.icloud.com login and change your password to one that meets these criteria (even if it already does)

8 character minimum including (at least) 1 number and (at least) 1 uppercase letter, no special characters.
