Q: When I sync my iPhone 4 to my PC it does not use the phones correct name

We have two Iphone 4's in our house. My phone is Steve's iPhone and the other is Dianne's iPhone... When I plug my phone in to my PC it calls my (Steve's iPhone) Dianne's IPhone. I have looked at the name on the iPhone and it is Steve's IPhone. I have tried to change the name of the file and the PC will not let me. How do I get my PC to identify my iPhone as Steve's instead of Dianne's?

    Are you doing it this way: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3965?  If so, and it still won't let you it may be because you are trying to change it to a name that is already taken.  Try changing one of the phones to just "iPhone", then change the other to the correct name, then go back and change the first one again, but this time to the correct name.

    When I plug in Steve's iPhone the first thing that happens is the Autoplay Popup Menu appears and it identifies the phone as "Dianne's".. The instructions at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3965 did not change that at all. The phone is correctly labeled as "Steve's" in iTunes and on the phone itself... Any more thoughts?

    "Autoplay popup"?  Are you talking about the Windows autoplay popup when the iPhone is detected?  If so, I''m not sure how to change that but try Double-clicking on Computer (My Computer), right-clicking on the iPhone, select Properties and try to change the name there.

     

    If you mean something else, please explain.
