can't edit contacts in iCloud

I am unable to edit contacts on my laptop associated with iCloud. They edit fine on my iPhone. Not sure why. Contacts gives me the edit option on my exchange contacts but not on the icloud contacts. Using 10.7 (latest) and macbook air (latest)

MacBook Air, Mac OS X (10.7.3)
