Where is the directory for the hard drive?

Yesterday I bought my first Apple product since my iPod Touch (2nd generation) -- the new Mac Mini. Using Migration Assistant, I moved a huge amount of files from my Win 7 PC. The problem is I cannot find any of it. When I use Spotlight, I can find documents, but cannot find where each resides on the HD. My daughter is an avid Mac user and she was mystified when she didn't see the name of the computer in the upper righthand corner of the menu bar.

Any ideas where I can find the contents of the HD?

Yes!! Thank you! NOW the problem is that all the folders have red minus signs on them. The message when I click on a folder is "You don't have permission to view the contents." All these folders are inside one folder named "owner." There is another folder with the name of my mini, and I have full access to its contents.

Why can't I open the folders with the minus signs?

What can I do to gain access to those files?
