160GB iPod Classic not synching

Hello, I have a new iPod Classic, named, and recognized by iTunes. However, when it tries to sync, it keeps repeating step 2, and trying to determine tracks to sync. Then it ends and says it synched, but the 39,000 songs I have....are not on the iPod. Using Windows XP, iTunes version 10.0.0.68, iPod software version 2.0.4. Tried a reset, etc. Drive is empty on the iPod. Thank you for any help.

  1. Have you ever sync this iTunes and your iPod successfully before on this PC?
  2. Are you using the High Power USB2.0 port at the back of the PC and not using any USB Hub?
  3. Any error message? or is the alerts warning switched off?

Hopefully when you have do a Hard Reset, the Apple Logo comes On the iPod for awhile.
