What caused you suspect you have a keylogger installed on your Mac?

What's that?
my Mac won't accept the file
What does that mean?

What's a keylogger got to do with what you describe? Why do you think there's a keylogger installed on your Mac?
my twitter account keeps getting hacked even with super strong passwords. perhaps it has something to do with twitter and not my mac? 🙂

What was the name of the crap cleaner?
What was displayed by OS X when the download started, did you it stop it and give you a warning?

Unfortunatly there isn't much demand on Mac's for software of that nature, usually the course of action is a backup of all data off the machine and a complete erase of everything and a rebuild from trusted sources.
Quite involved if a Mac gets compromised, which it can if
1: You've installed something from a unreliable source
2: Allowed someone to have access to your machine.
There are several ways to detect a keylogger on a mac, from simply reviewing the processes running on the computer to using a mac os spy detection program.
Step 1 Open the Activity Monitor to check for unknown process. This system tool will allow you to view the programs (processes) currently running on your computer.
Step 2 Check and Research any unfamiliar processes running in your “Activity Monitor.” Critical system processes sometimes have unrecognizable names, however, and keyloggers may have a name that sounds legitimate.
Step 3 Download and install a mac keylogger detector or another software firewall. This type of mac software alerts you when another program tries to connect to the Internet. It will detect a keylogger for mac before it sends information over the Internet, and allow you to block it.
specific way here: how to detect a Mac keylogger
That link is to a keylogger application, not to a keylogger detector. At least I can find nothing on that site that offers any sort of software detector for keyloggers.
The link within Emma's link is to a keylogger app:
Its context is very ill-conceived - "mac keylogger" is hyperlinked but the very next word "detector" is not. For someone seeking a "keylogger detector" it would be easy to misunderstand the page's title and click the link without thinking.
Considering the source - a keylogger program developer - I wonder if that is that website's very intent... a pathetic attempt to get you to install a trojan.
(to the OP if she's still here) Access to your computer and an administrator's name and password is the only way to install such a program.
A keylogger detector, if there is such a thing, could only conceivably check for the existence of known keylogger programs. There are better ways to do that; Emma's post explains one of them.
IMHO, the chances of the OP having (or having had) a keylogger are between slim and none. And I believe Slim has left the building.
I've seen people come on here with keylogger concerneds, and turned out to infact have a keylogger insatlled after posting results from the activity monitor, so it may have been the case here.
But I wouldn't have much faith in any app that claims to be a key-logger checker.

Could you please post a link or two? I'd like see how this worked out.
Thank you. Instructive.
Not quite the same thing as the OP, though, who thinks she has a keylogger because her "twitter account keeps getting hacked even with super strong passwords"…
🙂Thank you so much for the useful reply. So informative.
My computer has been installed a keylogger software, maybe is http://www.qqmonitor.com/safe-and-reliable-keylogger-software.htm or http://www.mysuperspy.com/safe-keylogger.htm . I don't know how to delete it too. Who can tell me how to find and delete it?
The only totally reliable way to remove a suspected keylogger is to back up your data, erase the drive (I'd recommending doing the erase that overwrites the entire drive with zeros), and reinstall your OS and applications and put back your data.
By the way, you posted in a thread that's been inactive for almost a year. That's usually not a good strategy for getting a quick response.
Regards.
