itunes hanging in sync

I have tried syncing my ipad and it gets to step 5 and says it is downloading safari, then it hangs.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Itunes. Switched off the ipad and switched on again and retried, but to no avail.

I would really appreciate if anyone can tell me how to resolve this issue.
