Blue texts are those that have been sent to another iPhone phone number and those texts are sent as internet data and do not count against your text msg allotment under your cell phone provider contract. Green texts are texts sent to non-iPhones (crack-berries, Droids, etc)

Now if you are texting to another iPhone and its green, try going to SETTINGS > Messages > iMessage > make sure it is ON.

See if that helps

Blue texts means that you're on iMessage, which uses an internet connection to send messages to other iPhones, iPod Touches, or iPads with the setting allowed. It is possible that you disabled the setting or you are texting people who either do not have an "i Device" or they have not enabled the function. Try going to your settings and seeing if the slide switch is switched to the "on" position. If it is and it still doesn't work, it is most likely your friend's job now. Green text messages are just sent over the network as a regular text message and will use up your alloted texting and recieving amount through your carrier. Hope this helps.
