install disk will not dismount without password....

After I reinstalled 10.4.11 on my iMac, the install disk continually reappears on my desktop every time I restart even though the disk is not in the machine. In order to unmount I have to enter my password. I can't figure out how to dismount it permanently. Thoughts? Thanks.
