any way I can shut off the 'auto close' feature on my Mac?

Is there any way I can shut off the 'auto close' feature on my Mac? The tray automatically closes after 6 minutes and 45 seconds. But I want it to remain open until I finally get around to putting in a new disc and closing it myself

I can't tell you how many times the tray has closed right as I'm about to pull the DVD out or put a new one in. At least 10 times it's closed ON the DVD as I was dropping it on the tray. I watch at least 8 DVDs a day while I'm working so this happens A LOT!!!! It seems like my attention span is exactly 6:44 because in that second I'm reminded to change DVDs the door closes!!
