How secure is FileVault encryption?
I'm looking to encrypt data on my hard drive. I keep hearing about truecrypt. How robust is FileVault and where can i find out how to use it?
🙂

Excellent. I'm going to read up on it now. 🙂
That link only applies if you left the original FileVault from Snow Leopard and before enabled. The orginal FileVault only encrypted a user's home folder. It does not apply to FileVault 2, whole disk encryption, which the OP is inquiring about. There is no way to enable the original FileVault unless you had it set when you upgraded to Lion.
Plus there is a trivially easy fix for the problem.

No, run software update.
At least, it was trivial then. Now you would have to construct a time machine to go back in time over a year ago to when 10.7.4 was first released and this thread was last updated. While construction of a time machine is certainly not trivial, it would enable one to go further back in time and argue about other interim releases of the past such as System 7.5.3 - that one was a mess!
I still have OS 6 and 7 disks, so no machine needed. but thanks.
