Does Sound Check work on Apple Lossless?
Does anyone know if Sound Check works on iTunes and iPods, when music has been ripped in Apple Lossless format please?
iPod classic, Windows 7

Carlos,
SoundCheck does not work on Apple Lossless files, only on MP3, AAC, WAV, and AIFF. For a brief description of its functionality, see this document: iTunes About SoundCheck.

Not sure about Windows, but on Mac Soundcheck DOES work on Apple Lossless files as of 12/15. I am using a 2015 Mac mini with iTunes 12.2. I can play an Apple Lossless song, turn on & off Soundcheck in the prefs, and hear the volume difference on the fly. I can also go to the file information for the song and see the dB change that is assigned by Soundcheck; the range of adjustments does not seem to differ among purchased mp3s, ripped AAC, or Lossless files. Note this applies only to playing them from the Mini to a stereo; going through another device like an ipod may not preserve the soundcheck function.
