iPhone 3GS screen unresponsive

Hi,

For the last couple of weeks my screen has been starting to act kind of weird. The problem is that the screen become unresponsive from time to time. For the most of the time when the screen stop responding I can "reset" it by pressing the sleep-button and then wake the phone up again or tilt it to landscape-mode.

It's very enoying and I don´t know what to do. For example, just a regular text/sms takes like 8-9 "resets" as described above, to finish.

I use the latest software for both iOS and iTunes. The phone has not been a subject to "brute force" or any kind of liquids and part from a few very small scratches the phone looks like new (kind of).

Anyone have any suggsetions what to do?

A BIG thank you and a gold star to whoever deliver the solution!

My sons 3GS has had an intermittent problem with the touch screen not responding. Numerous hard resets seemed to work but now that is not the answer. I visited the Genius bar they did a restore and the screen was still not responsive. They took the phone and came out a few minutes later to say they replaced the cable from digitizer to screen. The issue appeared to be resolved until we were a mile from the store. After another week of aggravation with missing calls and having a device that acts as a display we went back to the same store. A different tech took the phone and came out to advise we need to replace the screen at a cost of $100.00. I am one month away from an upgrade so I turned to the discussion boards here at Apple Communities. Kalooki's issue in 2009 and there fix seems to have resolved our issue. We turned off the auto lock feature and set the phone with a password. Now we can unlock the phone. This fix(?) has worked for three days with no further issues. We can manually lock the device and unlock with the password with no issues.

That's not a reset, it is merely turning the screen off and back on.

The basics from the User's Guide are reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).

A reset is pressing and holding the home and power buttons for 15-20 seconds until the white Apple logo appears.

Has any of this been tried?
