My conclusions
- Moving D800 files around (import or export) will be workable
- By moving to a Thunderbolt drive, D800 file size slow down will be reduced to be similar to the D700 on USB drives
- Size of export file does not seem to make much difference
- I was surprized at the better performance going to the thunderbolt drive as I had assumed the USB 2.0 card reader would be limiting and will it may be, there is enough extra performance the the thunderbolt drive will be beneficial.
