What gets texted to 447537410247?

Recently I purchased an iPhone. On the day I started using it, I was charged for an SMS text to a United Kingdom (UK) number: 447537410247. A search for that number turned up a Polish discussion board and a Norwegian discussion board, both with multiple comments from people who were showing texts to that and similar numbers (all starting with the same 5 or 6 digits). They were saying that the texts happened whenever they activated FaceTime on their iPhones. Anybody know what's up with this???

i have the same problem with different numbers. it cost me many time. i have switched off the imessage and facetime since long time and it is still sending the massage and cost me till the date.

please, i need a solution.

SMS messaging is required to activate FaceTime for use with your phone number. Depending on your carrier, you may be charged for this SMS.

It's a 'Silent SMS' sent too the Apple Server that activates FaceTime and iMessage. It should only be sent once per app (once for FaceTime, once for iMessage). It's designed not too cost anything, if it does cost you anything, it will be something your carrier has set up.

It costed me because it went overseas - to the United Kingdom, as opposed to the US where I am located. I would've expected an activation in the US to go to a phone number in the US - which would not have cost me anything or caused me to wonder if someone jacked my phone.

The reason for it is that the iMessage and FaceTime activation servers are in the UK, not sure why that's been done, but it has, nothing we can do about it, but luckily; It's a one off SMS
