Any way to recover from crash?

I was in the midst of writing a song for an hour or more and hadn't been saving as often as I ought to have. In any case, GarageBand crashed unexpectedly and the vast majority of the song was lost. I’m aware that audio recordings can sometimes be recovered inside the project package contents, but this song used only software instruments. Is there any way to recover the song?
