all u have to do is...restart the device..(keep the on/off button pressed) then turn it back on :-) i had the same issue too..this worked 🙂

if it happens again..u have to repeat the process..basicallly it clears the device's temp memory..when it gets filled..the search keyboard error occurs..try to keep the number of open apps to a minimum :-)
This definitely cannot be the case as this problem persists with no open applications. Simply going to search then pressing the power button or home button will cause this problem. Resetting is a temp fix always and problem will happen again.
It happens again and again. I have run on fixes that suggest restoring the iPhone ... yes again temporary fix. I work around by sleeping the iPhone and waking it up again. Or starting an application - and pressing the home button. Well, in fact, if you went to the search screen you are supposed to launch the app that you searched for right? Wrong, that is not how engineer thinks, I would definitely say it is a bug. I have my iPhone 3GS for exactly 3 years now and this happens since I updated with the latest iOS.
Anyone at apple actually reading this? I have noticed another persistant bug (a display one) since the introduction of iCloud. If someone cares ... 😉
