Google Play on Apple TV

Question is why doesnt the UI for APPLE TV 2nd Gen work well with YouTube. Did Google Play Cut the Live Stream through Apple TV by not allowing of the Live show stream of UMF 2012 to be displayted. Nice work. We have all of this wonderful technology and companies are doing stupid stuff like this which actually probably helped to lower the numbers of people who were able to watch. I surly didnt rush out to DL the Google Play whatchamacallit. Is there a way around just pluging in my Mac to HDMI to go the TV?
